This week's Minute to Win it Game was Put the M&M's in the cup using a straw. We had some teachers compete and then we had some 2nd grade students who are meeting their AR goal compete.
These Cougars earned a prize for following the school rules 1. Be Responsible 2. Be respectful 3. Be Safe. Way to go! 🐾🥳
Mr. Aguilar hosted 2 Lego Tournaments with a theme of "Reach for the Stars" in January. One was for TK-2nd grade and the other was for 3rd-5th grade. In the TK-2nd grade tournament Mrs. Orozco's class won second place & Sra. Zarate's class won first place. In the 3rd-5th grade tournament Mrs. Maniquez & Mr. Stokes class tied for second place and Sr. Serrato's class won first place. All of the classes did a great job working together to build their Lego Masterpieces.

Thomas and Bryan won the kids demonstration game. With 18 seconds left Sra. Cortez and Ms. Narayan won the Minute to Win It demonstration game. The kids can play the Minute to Win It Games by meeting their AR goal for the 2nd trimester.
This is Counselor Appreciation Week. The kids presented Mr. Aguilar with posters thanking him for all he does.

Yesterday the kids created a kindness chain with Mr. Aguilar during their lunch recessed. It had so many links that it stretched the length of our stage.

Von Renner is participating in the Kindness Challenge this week. Mr. Aguilar is doing some fun activities with the kids during their lunch times all week. On Monday they decorated a feather, on Tuesday they created kindness posters to give to Bonita, Hunt, and Barrington, and today they made a kindness chain. Tomorrow they will do kindness rock painting and on Friday they will have a photo booth.

Mrs. Sunde's Class had fun with the 100th Day Cup Stacking Challenge she gave them. One group was able to successfully complete it with the little cups.

🐾💖 Our counselor, Mr. Daniel Aguilar, led an inspiring discussion on “Empathy” with our Cougars during lunch, incorporating little rubber duckies as engaging visual aids. This month, we’re focusing on Empathy as our monthly trait, and our Cougars have already shown incredible capacity for empathy. Here are some ways we can all cultivate empathy. 🌟 To be empathetic, actively listen to others, try to understand their perspective by "putting yourself in their shoes," avoid making assumptions, be curious about their experiences, and respond with supportive and validating language, showing that you care about their feelings and are trying to connect with them on a deeper level are all ways to display empathy. 💖🐾

Yesterday we had the Planetarium Assembly in our new cafeteria. Our students all were able to learn about the Greek Constellations, the Milky Way Galaxy, the Sun, our moon, and all of the planets. Everyone loved it! I am including a link that has some information about the planetarium, so you can learn a little bit about it too.

Our next AR party will be a Minute to Win it party. The kids have been introduced to a game that will be at the party at each of our weekly assemblies. Today's game was to keep all 3 balloons in the air for 60 seconds. The kids were so excited to see them played. All students who are in AR can earn the party by meeting their AR points goal with 80% accuracy. Make sure to read those AR books every day. 🐾📚
